2010-2011 National Team Trials

Happy Tuesday Everyone!!

Finally we are done with National Team Trials, we were in Lake Placid for only two weeks but it seriously felt like three months! This was by far the warmest Team Trial Races that I have been apart of. The day before the race it was 70 degrees and the day of the race it was 68 degrees, now most times I would love this type of weather but when its suppose to be cold I kind of like it to be cold. The sun was shinning people were in T-Shirts, it just felt really weird. Due to the weather the race was push back about two times so instead of being at 11am the race took place at 6pm when it was a little cooler.

The races went pretty well, I raced with Corey Buckner a former pusher who was on a four-man team with me and now is driving. This is Corey's second year driving and he is picking it up fast and making it down the hill safe, which is always good! Unlike past years where I raced 2-man and 4-man I only raced 2-man this year because of the depth of the veteran drivers. It also gave some of the new guys a chance to race 4-man who would not have been able to race if me and another one of the veteran's would have done four-man. In the two man race we finished in third but we had the fastest start/push time in the first heat and the second fastest start/push time in the second heat!

Soooo what does this all mean you are asking yourself, and the second thing you are asking yourself is how does Jesse always know what I am thinking, the third thing you are asking yourself is really is Jesse actually going to keep going with this, the fourth thing you are asking yourself is why on earth does he think this is funny?, and the fifth thing you are asking yourself is oh God why wont he stop already, I swear if he does it one more time I am never reading his e-mail again.....and the Sixth thing...ok I'm done! lol

At the end of National Team Selection Races I was named to the National Team and I will be racing on USA 2 with 2010 Olympic Driver John Napier once he gets back from war in Afghanistan (he is in the Military World Class Athlete Program). Napier will not be back until the second World Cup race of the season in Calgary, Canada. In the mean time instead of sitting up in Lake Placid training and playing on the push track I have decided to go and race America's Cup with Corey in two-man until Napier gets back. I figured it will help me stay competitive while constantly improving and I help out a former team mate.

Currently I am in Park City, Utah until Nov 13, then we will head up to Calgary till the Nov 21st for a week of racing, then back here to Park City for a week of training. On the 28 I will then head back to Calgary's and Join the World Cup tour to race with Napier and my crew, from there I head back to Park City for World Cup the week of the Dec 6-12th, then on to the World Cup in Lake Placid finishing up on December 19th. Its kind of a world wind of events but this is Bobsled.

I finally got a new camera that is really sweet so please check my web-site by Friday for some new pictures

God Bless

Jesse
